Meet at the Visitor Center then carpool through the state wildlife area to watch the Sandhill Cranes fly in from their day-time feeding grounds to their nightly roosting grounds. Pre-registration required. Fee: $5. Limited to 20 participants. First 10 people may reserve space in the van.
Event combines classroom instruction and field work before a novice goes hunting with an experienced hunter. The WDNR encourages friends or families to sign up together that have no hunting connection. No license is required, hunter education requirements are waived. No charge. Hunting gear will be provided if needed. Lodging available to participants.
Get in the spooky spirit with a hands-on carving night. In preparation for Howl-O-Ween, volunteers plan to carve 100 pumpkins while enjoying some tasty treats! Can’t make it? Pick up a load of pumpkins and bring them back as jack- o-lanterns! Volunteers will be able to take their carved pumpkins home after 8:00 pm October 29. Don’t forget to bring blades, tools, or a carving kit for assistance. Pumpkins provided. All ages. Volunteer Opportunity.
