Birth to Three / Public Health Specialist

The Birth to 3 program exists to provide therapy services and support to infants and children up to the age of three who have a delay or other circumstances that affect their typical development. The position of Birth to 3 Service Coordinator screens children for the program, coordinates evaluations and services that support families to assist with their child’s development. The impact of this program can be essential to the health, safety and quality of life. This position also works with the larger Birth to Three team in an effort to best serve the children referred.

The Public Health Specialist facilitates implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), assists with the Maternal Child Health service and programming, and provides other assistance in the Public Health Unit so as statutory mandates are met and services are being provided to the community to continue with Level II Health Department requirements. Public Health outreach and Health Education are also components of this position.

    • Training in CPR, Incident Command, Blood-borne Pathogens, HIPAA, Civil Rights, Fraud & Abuse Prevention, Respiratory Protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) desirable

    This position requires a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Work and/or nursing or related field(s). Two (2) to five (5) years experience in County social work preferred with basic interviewing, assessment and general knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Human Services delivery system in the State of Wisconsin. Position requires knowledge and experience working with people who have developmental and/or physical disabilities, or people who have severe emotional disturbance and their families.

    Burnett County Department of Health and Human Services is currently certified as a Level II health Department. The Public Health Specialist would help support that current certification through the various programs and services provided.
    Applicants must have proficient computer skills, possess of a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for on the job use will be required. Training in CPR, Incident Command, Blood-borne Pathogens, HIPAA, Civil Rights, Fraud & Abuse Prevention, Respiratory Protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) desirable.
